We sat down with Victoria Downing, President of Remodelers Advantage, to learn more about her company and their impact on the remodeling industry as a whole.
What is Remodelers Advantage?
Remodelers Advantage is a consulting firm specializing in the remodeling industry. The company was founded in the late 1980s in response to the needs of remodeling company owners who wanted guidance as they attempted to build strong, consistently profitable businesses. What services does Remodelers Advantage provide?
While Remodelers Advantage offers individual coaching, strategic business consulting, Remodelers University (their 24/7 digital education portal), and a variety of interactive events, they are probably best known for the Remodelers Advantage Roundtables program, launched in the early 90’s.
Roundtables, an industry-specific peer group program, brings together motivated business owners from non-competing geographic to share performance metrics, drill down into processes and procedure, and together, discover new ways to improve their businesses. This style of peer-to-peer learning helps business owners, from across the U.S. and Canada, realize they are not alone, but instead have a smart, savvy board of advisors ready to help. In addition, by working together, each of the companies finds improvements happening faster than they could have done alone.
Roundtables is currently the largest program at Remodelers Advantage, with over 2000 companies across the US and Canada. These companies range from $1,000,000 to about $30,000,000 in annual revenue, so they represent a significant amount of revenue in the remodeling industry. Thanks to Roundtables, remodelers are able to work smarter and see improvements faster, so they can make a difference for themselves, their employees, and their families.
In addition to Roundtables for business owners, Remodelers Advantage also offers Roundtables Peer Groups for Production Managers as well as Marketing Directors who handle lead generation for remodeling companies. Everything Remodelers Advantage does is designed to, as their mission statement says, “Light the path of greater success for motivated remodeling professionals.”

What’s to come in the future?
In order to continue significantly and positively impact the remodeling industry as a whole, Remodelers Advantage has both short and long-term plans for the organization. For the near term, they plan to add more content to their online University, giving their members more opportunities to better educate themselves and their teams. In the long term, Remodelers Advantage wants to expand their offerings to a wider network of remodeling professionals.
Remodeling Excellence Week
One exciting initiative that Remodelers Advantage has spearheaded, and GuildQuality is proud to be part of, is Remodeling Excellence Week. This annual event is an entire week of conferences, workshops, and peer-group meetings dedicated to helping remodelers achieve their goals. This year Remodeling Excellence Week comes to Minneapolis, September 25-29, 2017. Nearly 600 industry professionals are expected to attend.
